Effective tooth brushing techniques depend on effective toothbrush care. If you’re not keeping your toothbrush clean, it will not be able to keep your teeth clean. Because of this, you will need to implement toothbrush caring treatments in order to ensure you’re using safe and effective products that are stored correctly.

In order to ensure your toothbrush is functioning effectively, you will need to make sure that it hasn’t worn down and frayed. If it has worn down, it will need to be replaced. Typically, toothbrushes should be replaced every three to four months anyway. When selecting a new toothbrush, look for ones that feature the ADA Seal of Acceptance or has been recommended by your dentist. In addition, soft-bristled toothbrushes are ideal as they are less likely to cause dental abrasion. Furthermore, never share your toothbrush and never use anyone else’s toothbrush. Always make sure your toothbrush is stored by itself away from other toothbrushes, so it does not end up contaminated. Store it upright and air it out it an open container that is free of moisture. Make sure you clean it every time after you’re done using it.
